Licensed Mental Health Counselor #20345
Shawna Rathie Schultz is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the heart of Winter Garden. Having over 10 years of experience working with children and adolescents in different positions. I have worked with this population in counseling, school, and church settings. Her passion is working with children, adolescents, and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, guilt, shame, trauma, eating disorders, self-esteem issues, and chronic illness/pain. She always wants to know what the client’s needs are and how she can meet them so that we can reach their therapeutic goals. Therapy for her is a collaboration.
Shawna earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with a minor in Youth Ministry from Southeastern University in 2015 and her Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University in 2019. She grew up in the Clermont and Winter Garden area, she is familiar with the local schools and churches. Having overcome a difficult childhood and adolescence herself, one of her biggest passions is using her own story to aide others in their struggles, and comfort them in the knowledge that they are not alone. Helping others has always been a priority of hers. Shawna felt led to follow a career in counseling after God had placed the desire on her heart during her high school years.
Shawna takes a person-centered approach along with a Christian worldview with her clients and uses different modalities depending on the client’s needs. She has training in Play Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy
